Tin Bird Choir's 'Barn Rock' is intelligent and original

Tin Bird Choir calls his music "Rock Barn", but this eponymous debut CD is not a neutral Eagles-like mix of country and rock. Among the patched-in electric guitar and occasional organ is really down-home folk, a return to ancient times when it was simple, often idiosyncratic, and even a little spooky.

"Rock Barn" begins with "(I want my) Truck Back", a sad plea for an old favorite vehicle ever returned by a friend."Treat You Right" is an innocent desire for tolerance in a small town. "Where Did I Go Wrong" is a genuine cabaret song, and "Artie Shaw" is a short piece on the retirement of the big band leader with an old Timey-horn....
